Vision Rehabilitation
The vision rehabilitation program at L V Prasad Eye Institute assists persons with permanent visual impairment through a variety of training programs for life skills as well in the use of assistive devices. The program aims to aid those with permanent impairment lead independent lives. It is structured based on the individual’s nature of impairment and their available support facilities.
Vision Rehabilitation Centres:
The Institute's vision rehabilitation centres, in alignment with the VISION 2020: Right to Sight global program, have undertaken the initiative of tackling the problem of low vision, with special focus on children and underprivileged groups.
The Institute is part of a global collaborative network which provides in the areas of blindness prevention and low vision, and advocacy, a variety of services including:
- Clinical Services,
- Professional Training, and
- Research and Development
LVPEI has two centres for vision rehabilitation:
- The Meera and L B Deshpande Centre for Sight Enhancement
- The Dr P R K Prasad Centre for Rehabilitation of Blind and Visually Impaired
These centres are named after supporters who have helped us realize our mission to serve those with incurable vision impairment.
These vision rehabilitation Centres have collaborative links with international organizations such as the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness and Lighthouse International.
